On March 20, 2018 the GEDC staff and board members were guest speakers at the Westbrook/Gorham Rotary Club's weekly luncheon. Tom Ellsworth, GEDC President, spoke on the mission of the GEDC and current business development projects, and Dan Nichols, GEDC board member, spoke on the Gorham Village Alliance as part of the MaineDowntown Network program.

The Rotary Club offered a gift of a childrens book that Dan and Tom signed and provided to the Baxter Memorial Library childrens collection. We had a great time!

Maine Downtown Network Application Update

On friday September 15th, The Town of Gorham hosted the Maine Downtown Advisory Council as part of an application to become a member of the Maine Downtown Network. The visit included a walking tour of the village and was attended by members of the Advisory Council, town staff, and the Gorham Village Alliance Organizational Committee.

Membership in the network will allow Gorham to gain access to the National Maine Street Center, which helps communties revitalize their downtown using a four point approach: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring. We expect to learn of approval to the network in the next few weeks.

TNT Re opens for business

In early May 2016, TNT Quickstop on Lower Main Street was destroyed by fire. The fire started as a car fire in a wash bay and quickly spread to the entire property resulting in a total loss.. A little over a year later, with friends and well wishers in attendance, owner Todd Flannery cut the ribbon on the newly rebuilt store and car wash. 

We are very pleased that Todd decided to rebuild at his location and commend him on overcoming an adverse situation and his dedication to doing business in Gorham!

Sebago Brewing Company breaks ground on new manufacturing plant

On a picture perfect morning, employees of Sebago Brewing Company were joined by friends and local officials to break ground on their new 35,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant located on Lower Main Street. This project is the next step in the success of Sebago Brewing which began as a up start brew operation in a small building in the Gorham Industrial Park. The building will be completed by the fall of this year.

We want to congratulate Kai Adams, Brad Monarch, and Tim Haines on this new chapter in their company's growth and thank them for choosing Gorham as their permanent home!

Woods Excavating Construction Underway

The new home of Woods Excavating is taking shape in the New Portland Parkway. The 4,800 sq. ft. steel building will house their equipment and offices as the company embarks on an expansion. We are pleased the company, which provides excavating services for residential and commercial projects, has chosen to grow in Gorham! The company is taking the next step in its growth as it relocates from a home based business to a newly constructed 4,800 sq. ft. warehouse and equipment service operation. The company is owned by the father son team of John and Chris Woods, and offers site contracting services to both residential and commercial customers. On Wednesday August 19th, Lisa and Mitch Kaldrovich welcomed members of the Gorham Economic Development Corporation, town officials and local business people to tour their new restaurant at 2 School Street. Since opening in the spring, MK Kitchen has been welcomed by the community and enjoyed solid success. The informal gathering included a sampling of menu items, many including fresh local produce. Mitchell and Lisa Kaldrovich have opened their new restaurant, MK Kitchen, at 2 School Street in Gorham Village. The couple spent the winter months renovating the space that was formerly a hair salon and used clothing store into a upscale dining spot offering a full bar and "New American" cuisine.  The business employs 25 full and part time employees. Martins Point Opens New Health Care Facility

On September 18th Martins Point Health Care held a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for its new health care offices at 575 Main Street. The 12,500 sq. ft., 5 million dollar project will serve over 6,000 patients in the Gorham area with 6 doctors and nurse practioners as well as additional support staff. On August 18th Gorham residents William and Tara Benson completed the acquisition of this Industrial Park business which builds custom stairs and other high end wood products from prior owner David Beaulieu. New England Stair& Tread relocated to Gorham from Saco in 2010 and this sale allows the company to remain in Gorham. A previously approved loan from the Town's RLF program was allowed to stay in place with the new owners and was instrumental in allowing the sale to go forward. Martins Point Breaks Ground on New Health Care Facility

On the mild morning  of  November 7th, officials from Martin's Point Health Care  were joined by members of the local business community to break ground on their new 12,500 sq. ft medical office facility.

The event included remarks by Dr. David Howes, Martin's Point president and CEO, Dr. Jonathan Harvey, Martin's Point chief medical officer, and Daivd Galbraith, The Town of Gorham's Zoning Administrator.

At a special meeting of the Gorham Planning Board on October 21, 2013, three businesses were approved for expansion:

East Coast Communications, LLC, a manufacturer of cellular phone towers, was approved for a 3,200 sq. ft. expansion of their manufacturing facility in the New Portland Parkway

ODAT Machine, Inc., a precision manufacturer of components to the aerospace, semiconductor, and defense industries, was approved for a 13,600 sq. ft. expansion of their manufacturing facility in the Gorham Industrial Park.

Martins Point Health Care, a primary care medical office, was approved for a new 12,600 sq. ft. medical office building at the corner of Rt 25 and Rt 237.

Congratulations to these companies for choosing to expand and do business in the Town of Gorham!
